The Push behind the Surge
By Jim Lobe and Michael Flynn | January 11, 2007

Neoconservatives and their allies are practically the only supporters of the “surge” idea to send more troops to Iraq. But this doesn’t seem to bother the president, who was given a brand new blueprint for “victory” last week, gift-wrapped by the same ideologues at the American Enterprise Institute who helped lead the country into war. LETTERS

Re: Letter to the Editor regarding the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Right Web News, January 5, 2007.

I don't subscribe to MEMRI's daily emails as the letter writer claims to do, but I have read many of its articles. I find that there is a consistent pro-Israeli point of view and a frequent bias in the articles, which nevertheless contain a lot of interesting and accurate information. My suggestion to the letter writer is that he also read a variety of other sources. He should certainly continue to enjoy MEMRI, but I urge him to read it with a critical awareness that it does often reflect a special perspective on the Middle East.

I also urge the IRC and Right Web to keep us advised on their evaluation of various sources such as MEMRI and to note whatever biases they observe, with an occasional interesting specific example.
